EU exit – Implications for Multichannel Retailers

The EU referendum outcome was always going to have a big implication for the UK, no matter what the result. This morning the result was in and the UK have chosen to leave the EU. The full implications of this decision for online and multichannel retailers is yet unknown.

One of the biggest implications will be the value of the pound against the euro and the dollar. The value will be advantageous for selling goods to European markets but they will loose out when buying stock in the dollar and euro.

Chloe Rigby notes in her article that for now, we are still trading with Europe and she has confidence is retailers approaches to omnichannel trading, that it can overcome any future barriers. She identifies that consumer’s locations are becoming less and less important and that UK retailers must continue to trade in Europe and innovate where possible.
