Debenhams have announced that their new CEO will be Sergio Bucher, the vice-president of Amazon’s European fashion business. Bucher has a wealth of retail experience with previous roles having been held at Nike and Puma.
Sir Ian Cheshire, Debenhams Chairman noted confidence in Bucher’s ability to do the role and sees ‘the potential of ‘new Debenhams’ as a leading international multichannel retailer with a bright future’. Retail consultant Richard Hyman also commented on Butcher’s ability to impact the future noting that ‘he will bring a totally different perspective to the business.’
Cheshire also commented that Bucher’s priority would be to re-addresses who Debenhams core customers are and what can they do for that customer.
