Oracle buys NetSuite

NetSuite Inc., provides e-commerce and business operations software to midsized manufacturers and distributors. It has now been acquired by Oracle for $9.3 billion.

NetSuite was originally developed as a less expensive version of Oracle’s high-end business software and serves smaller companies than Oracle’s ATG.

Andy Hoar, principal analyst covering B2B e-commerce at Forrester Research Inc., noted that Oracle will benefit from the acquisition as they will now have an ERP system that they can sell market to mid-market companies.
