The digital revolution has changed many aspects of modern day life and the retail industry is no exception.The way we shop has changes and the ways in which retailers sell their products has altered as well.
It is estimated that 100,000 employees in the retail industry have jobs today that didn’t exist five years ago. The need to provide these people has subsequently impacted on the recruitment industry. Rachel Bowman, managing director of Quest noted that ‘We have seen newly created roles emerge such as chief customer officer, designed to ensure the retailers are truly implementing an omnichannel strategy.’
Bowman also noted all retail roles will be affected by the rise of technology, even down to the shop assistant tole where the ‘overall customer experience, will need to keep up with the constant evolution of the retail industry’.
