The British Retail Consortium (BRC) today revealed that more than 20% of UK retail sales took place online in February.
According to Helen Dickinson, Chief Executive of the BRC, ‘February was the third month in a row where online accounted for over one in every five pounds spent on non-food items’. This highlights the importance of online trading in the UK, a market which is continuously growing.
Online sales outperformed store sales in a variety of categories. Notably, 27.6% of sales were made online, an increase of 3% on February 2015.
